Baisabi Dhaka to host Baisabi festival
Dhaka, April 11: Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Baisabi festival could not be held in the capital in the last two years. However, this time the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts is going to celebrate this festival of the small ethnic group of Chittagong Hill Tracts. This was informed in the press release of the ministry on Monday (April 11).
It is said that on the occasion of Baisabi, a colorful rally will be held on Tuesday, April 12 at 8:30 am from Bailey Road, Chittagong Hill Tracts Complex. Then it will end by floating flowers in the water of Ramna Park.
Chittagong Hill Tracts Minister Bir Bahadur Ushaising will be the chief guest at the festival. Secretary of the Ministry Mosammat Hamida Begum will preside over the function.
A small anthropological group in the Chittagong Hill Tracts has been celebrating this traditional festival for centuries. The festival is abbreviated as 'Baisuk' of the Tripura people, 'Sangrai' of the Marma community and 'Biju' of the Chakmas.
On the occasion of this year's Baisabi, three hill districts Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachhari, as well as hill tribes living in Dhaka will join the festival.
