Dhaka, February 10: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina mentioned that Dhaka metropolis will witness a different rail communication by 2030 to ease traffic congestion.

He said, 'A different environment of rail communication will be created in this Dhaka city. It will save a lot of things including human communication, travel and fuel costs. Dhaka city will be traffic free. That's how we are implementing the plans.

The Prime Minister said, "The government is constructing new railway lines. It is creating a great network of rail communication across the country. Through the implementation of these projects in the railway sector, new horizons will begin in the domestic and inter-national rail communication system. Revolutionary changes will come in railway services.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said these words while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of three projects of Bangladesh Railway.

She said, "We have inaugurated the Metrorail. It is also moving in a limited range. Later it will be extended from Uttara to Kamalapur railway station. In case of metro rail, we are also going underground. In the meantime, the construction of subway under MRT Line-1 has also been inaugurated."

The head of government said, "The railway connections which were closed during the India-Pakistan war in 1965, the Awami League government is opening them one by one. The construction work of Bangladesh Railways under the Ministry of Railways under the financing of Bangladesh Government and Indian Line of Credit (LOC-1) titled 'Construction of Third and Fourth Dual Gauge Line in Dhaka-Tongi Section and Dual Gauge Double Line in Tongi-Joidebpur Section (DTJDLP)' is also progressing rapidly. Under this project, construction of double line on 11.09 km route in Tongi-Joidebpur section has been completed. There is no need to stand for crossing at Dhirashram station if the train is started on double line in this section. As a result, the journey time of all trains will be saved. Besides, the risk of accidents will also decrease."

Stating that various games are going on in Bangladesh regarding rail communication, the Prime Minister said, "After the assassination of the Father of the Nation on August 15, 1975, the military dictators who illegally seized power in violation of the constitution did not want any welfare or development of this country. Due to which the common people tried to destroy all the means of passenger transport one by one. Even attempts were made to close the railway on the pretext that it was not profitable. Railway personnel are sent off with a golden handshake. Not only this, many railway lines were also closed. This was done when Khaleda Zia was the Prime Minister during the last BNP-Jamaat coalition government."
