Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Sept 28: Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar has commented that 'red tape' is being eliminated as a result of digitization or systematic transformation.

He said that since 2009, the continuity of the Digital Bangladesh programme has ensured transparency and accountability in administrative work. Files no longer run on red tape, files run digitally.

He said these in the speech of the chief guest on Tuesday (September 27) in the secretariat of the post and telecommunication department's officers-employees who participated virtually in the award distribution ceremony of Purity, APA, innovation, and hard work. Post and Telecommunication Secretary Md. Khalilur Rahman presided over the event.

Emphasizing the need to increase the efficiency and accountability of government officials, the minister said, "If the administration is not active and active, the government is not active and active. I now dispose of around 60 to 70 files digitally every day. As the speed of work has increased, transparency and accountability have also changed tremendously."

Highlighting the need for innovation for officials and employees to face the challenges of the digital era, he said, the more innovative you are, the more the government will move forward in digitization. You have the skills, abilities, and courage to face any challenge.

Mustafa Jabbar said that the Department of Posts and Telecommunications has an immense role to deliver the benefits of the Digital Bangladesh Program to the doorsteps of the people through the expansion of digital infrastructure. The Telecommunication Minister appreciated the role of the concerned parties in carrying forward the responsibility assigned to expand the country's digital infrastructure including high-speed internet with efficiency and sincerity.

APA awards were given to BTCL, Submarine Cable Company Limited, and Bangladesh Cable Shilpa Limited at the organization level. Apart from this, 27 officers-employees of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications were honored for their sudden, hard-working, and meritorious work in the fiscal year 2021-22. Posts and Telecommunication Secretary distributed the awards and honours.
