DMP Commissioner, wife cast their vote

Dhaka, July 17: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Ghulam Farooq cast his vote in the Dhaka-17 constituency by-election. His wife is also a voter of the same constituency.

He told reporters after voting at Banani Vidya Niketan School and College center at 2:30 pm on Monday (July 17), "Voter turnout is low, but there was no trouble anywhere. The law and order situation is normal."

Meanwhile, security forces have strengthened security in Gulshan area around the Dhaka-17 constituency by-election. Search is going on at every check post and entry point in these areas. Police on alert to prevent entry of outsiders and stop movement of motorcycles.

According to the EC, 19 police-ansar forces are deployed in the by-election general centers and 21 to guard the vulnerable centres. They will serve till the day after polling.

However, the merged Ansar will be engaged for five days. Besides, 15 members of Police, APBn and Battalion Ansar, six teams of RAB and 10 platoon BGB members have been deployed.

25 executive and five judicial magistrates have been appointed to ensure compliance with the election code of conduct.
