Dhaka, December 5: The locals formed a human chain in favor of setting up a sculpture of Bangabandhu, at Dolaipar in the capital. It called for a mass uprising against the anti-sculpture group from the human chain. The program was presided over by Jatiya Party co-chairman and MP Syed Abul Hossain Babla on Saturday (December 5).

Speaking on the occasion, Syed Abul Hossain Babla said, “The country is celebrating the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation and the golden jubilee of great independence by uniting in the spirit of 1971. Bangladesh will not lose its way due to the noise of any communal evil power."

Babla said, "Attempts are being made to destroy the bright image of non-communal Bangladesh in the world. But the whole Bengali nation in 1971 defeated the Pakistani forces under Bangabandhu's leadership as well as their allies."

Congratulating the Turkish government for announcing the installation of Bangabandhu's sculpture in Ankara, Abul Hossain Babla added, "When a group in our country threatens to destroy the sculpture that carries the identity of Bangladesh's art, culture and tradition, including Bangabandhu's sculpture, by misinterpreting Islam, a Muslim like Turkey is doing otherwise."

"The announcement of setting up a sculpture of Bangabandhu in the country is undoubtedly a slap in the face of extremist fanatics. The day is not far away when the sculpture of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the entire Bengali nation, will be erected as the leader of the freedom-loving people of the whole world," he said.
