Kamal Hossain Dr. Kamal Hossain retires from politics
Dhaka, Oct 28: Constitutional expert Dr. Kamal Hossain has resigned from Gono Forum.
He announced this at the Special National Council organized by Gono Forum at the National Press Club Auditorium on Friday. Through this, his almost 60 years of political life is going to end. He was elected a member of the National Assembly from the Mirpur seat left by Bangabandhu in the 1970s elections.
Dr. Kamal Hossain said in a written statement, "I have been walking with you since the inception of the party, and have tried to work unitedly to solve national problems and crises. But considering my age and physical condition, it is no longer possible to actively perform the duties of the President. In this situation, I announce my resignation from all political activities and from the post of president of the public forum."
He said, "I, however, will try to contribute to the country and the nation from my personal position to the best of my ability. My sincerity towards the party, my emotions, sympathy-cooperation and advice towards the leaders and workers of the party will always be there. In this situation, I request the councilors present in this special national council of Gono Forum today, to announce the new leadership today to strengthen and organize the party. The central committee that you are going to democratically form in this council today, I hope that this committee will play an important role in national politics in the coming days. You will always be active in moving Bangladesh forward in the spirit of the liberation war, democracy and stability of the country. Victory to the public forum, victory to the people."
