Dhaka, March 17: Two people, including Nobel laureate economist Dr Muhammad Yunus, have sought an unconditional apology from the High Court for contempt of court over the recruitment of employees for their company Grameen Telecom. The High Court then exempted them from personal appearance. At the same time, the rule on re-employment of Grameen Telecom employees has been fixed for hearing on April 22 after the Supreme Court's vacation.

A bench of the High Court comprising Justice Md Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order on Tuesday (March 16).

The other is a director of Grameen Telecom. According to the summons, they were scheduled to appear in the High Court on Tuesday. On that day, they appeared in the virtual court and sought unconditional apology through a lawyer.

On the day of the contempt hearing, their lawyer Barrister Rukan Uddin Mahmud told the court, "Grameen's virtual office was running because of the global epidemic in Corona." So they have not been recruited yet. We will explain. "

Grameen Telecom Workers Union President Md. Did not implement the instructions to reinstate 37 employees of the company. They were summoned to the High Court on February 18 after hearing a contempt of court petition filed by Kamruzzaman. The same bench of the High Court passed the order.

The order asked Grameen Telecom Chairman Dr Muhammad Yunus and Managing Director Md Ashraful Hasan to appear in court virtually today (March 17) at 11am.
