EC: President Hamid signs major bill
Dhaka: President Hamid has signed a bill related to Election Commission appointment.
As a result, the way to form a search committee has become easier according to the law. The President signed the bill on Saturday (January 29th), according to a press release from the Parliament Secretariat. The bill was passed in the sixteenth session of the just-concluded Eleventh National Assembly.
If the President agrees to a bill passed in Parliament, it becomes law. It is effective in accordance with the provisions of the law. The bill is said to be effective immediately. As a result, it will be considered effective as soon as it becomes law.
The much-discussed bill was approved by the National Assembly last Thursday (January 26). According to the new law, a new chief election commissioner and other election commissioners will be appointed through the formation of a search committee.
