Dhaka, May 3: Referring to the coronavirus epidemic situation, President Md. Abdul Hamid called upon all to observe Eid-ul-Fitr with caution. He said the situation could get worse at any time if care is not taken in movement and lifestyle. When we go to rejoice, we do not call for danger.

He made the remarks while addressing Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Bangabhaban Darbar on Tuesday (May 3) at 9.30 am.

In the past, despite attending Eid Jamaat at the National Eidgah ground, the President performed Eid prayers at Bangabhaban following limited health rules for the last two years due to the Corona situation. He again performed Eid prayers at the state residence with his family members and Bangabhaban officials and employees. At the end of the prayers, prayers are offered for the welfare of the country and the nation.

After the prayers, in his Eid greetings to the people, the President said, "Today is a happy day for the Muslims after a month of fasting and self-purification." Today is the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, I would like to convey my sincere wishes and congratulations to the people of the country and the world.

He said, Eid means joy, Eid means happiness. The real joy of Eid is in celebrating Eid together not only with oneself or family but also with relatives, neighbors and friends. I urge the countrymen to enjoy the joy of Eid by sharing it with all, rich and poor alike.

Abdul Hamid said that due to the Corona epidemic, no religious festival of any community including Eid could be celebrated and enjoyed in the expected joyous atmosphere in the last two years. At present the situation in Corona is very much under control, so this time there will be a tendency for people to enjoy the broken joy - this is normal. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that although the corona epidemic is under control, the coronavirus has not completely disappeared.

He said corona infections are on the rise again in different parts of the world. So if you are not careful in your movements and lifestyle, the situation can get worse at any time. When we go to rejoice, we do not bring danger. So let's celebrate Eid festival in compliance with health rules, keep the country tax free.
