Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated across the country in honor of sacrifice

Dhaka, June 29: Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of Muslims, is being celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm and sacrifice. Devout Muslims sacrifice animals in the hope of pleasing Allah. In the belief of joy through sacrifice, Muslims go to the Eidgah after the Fajr prayer and pray two rakats of Eid-ul-Azha. After that, the cows, goats, sheep, buffaloes and camels bought according to the financial capacity are sacrificed in the name of Allah.

According to Islamic Shariah, animal sacrifice on Eid-ul-Azha is obligatory. Surah Kawsar of the Holy Qur'an says, 'So pray to your Lord and sacrifice animals.' Surah Haj says, 'Sacrificial animals are guidance for people.'

A four-day public holiday is underway from Tuesday (June 27) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, President Md. Sahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages. In the message, they congratulated the countrymen on Eid.

Today, the main congregation of Eid-ul-Azha was held at 7:30 am at the National Eidgah adjacent to the capital's High Court. People from all walks of life including Supreme Court judges, cabinet members, parliamentarians, politicians, diplomats participated in this jamaat. The President is in Saudi Arabia to perform the Holy Hajj.

Five congregations of Eid-ul-Azha were held at National Mosque Baitul Mukarram. The first congregation is held at 7 am, the second congregation at 8 am, the third congregation at 9 am, the fourth congregation at 10 am, and the fifth and last congregation at 10:45 am. Apart from this, Eid Jamaat is held in various mosques and Eidgah grounds of the country according to the time set by the locals.

Meanwhile, rain has continued in the capital since morning. According to the Meteorological Department, 140 mm of rain was recorded in the capital till 9 am. This heavy rain may continue throughout the day.

People participated in the Eid congregation with the rain on their heads and slaughtering the sacrificial animals.

On the other hand, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Radio and private media are broadcasting special programs with due importance and publishing special issues in newspapers. On the occasion of Eid celebration, high-quality food was served in all hospitals, prisons, government children's homes, old-age homes, drug addiction treatment centers in the country.
