Dhaka, October 7: Eight thousand expatriates and passengers have gone to the United Arab Emirates in the last seven days after being tested for coronavirus at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. All of them tested negative for the virus. However, seven passengers could not board the plane as their test results were positive.

Meanwhile, another 1,999 people have flown to the UAE on six flights in the last 24 hours. Airport Health Desk Officer at Shahjalal Airport Dr Hasan Md. Kawsar said this on Thursday (October 8).

He said that from September 30 to date, 8,007 samples were tested at six RT-PCR laboratories approved by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) at the airport. Of these, the test report of the seven sample taken 48 hours ago was negative but the people could not go as they tested positive six hours before the departure of the flight.

Initially, coronavirus was tested for a fee of Tk 1,600, but later it was made free for expatriate workers by the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment.
