Election: CEC instructs field administration to ensure peaceful environment

Dhaka, Dec 23: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has directed the field administration to ensure a free, fair and peaceful election environment by resisting all kinds of irregularities, rigging and usurpation. At the same time, he also directed to ensure the environment in which the voters can vote freely.

The CEC gave this order during an exchange of views with law enforcement and field administration officials in Jessore on Friday, December 22. This exchange meeting was held with DC-SP, UNO-OC of 10 districts of Khulna division and Faridpur, Gopalganj and Rajbari districts of Dhaka division. After the exchange of views, the CEC briefed the journalists. 290 officers of DC-SP, UNO-OC, BGB, Coast Guard and Ansar forces were present in this meeting held at Jessore Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park Auditorium.

Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said that elections will be made free, fair and peaceful at any cost. The law and order situation in the election field is good.

Pointing out that the returning officers have to perform their main duties to complete the elections properly, he said that only the election officers will be inside the polling station. It has been asked to ensure that there is no irregularity, rigging, encroachment. It will be ensured that voters can vote freely.

In response to questions from journalists, the CEC said that the attacks that are happening at different places are being investigated. The investigation report will identify the guilty and take appropriate action. Divisional Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif presided over the meeting organized by Khulna Divisional Commissioner's Office and managed by Jessore District Administration. Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam was present as a special guest in the meeting.
