Own Correspondent, Dhaka, January 25: Nearly 28 hours after the disconnection, the agitating students have restored the electricity connection at the residence of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed. The electricity was restored on Monday (January 24) at around 12 am.

Earlier, the agitating students disconnected the power supply of the residence at around 7:45 pm on Sunday. The electricity supply of employees' houses on the same line also got disconnected. For this reason, the leaders of the University Employees' Association requested the protesters to restore the connection. The agitating students turned on the electricity lines when they heard about the problems of sick people and children in their homes.

Earlier on Sunday evening, the agitating students took position in front of the main entrance of the Vice Chancellor's residence. Since Sunday evening, they have not allowed anyone to enter the Vice-Chancellor's residence except law enforcement and media personnel. On Monday, the agitating students did not allow any person to take food and medicine to the residence of Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed. On Monday evening, when the teachers wanted to enter through the main gate with food, water and medicine for the Vice-Chancellor and his family, the students did not allow them and argued with the teachers at the time.

On January 13, students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology started agitation demanding three points, including the resignation of SUST's Begum Sirajunnesa Chowdhury Hall's provost committee. Later, the demand for the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor also came to the fore in the movement. Later in the afternoon of January 16, the students blocked the Vice-Chancellor at the IICT building of the university demanding three points. Later, when the police rescued the Vice-Chancellor, there was a clash between the students and cops. At that time, the police dispersed the students by charging sound grenades, lobbing tear gas shells and firing rubber bullets. Several students were injured in the tussle. Police filed a lawsuit against 300 'unidentified' students.

On January 19 afternoon, 23 students went on a hunger strike in front of the Vice Chancellor's residence demanding his resignation.
