Dhaka, February 4: Advocate Rana Dasgupta, general secretary of the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, has said that enemy is present everywhere.

"It is very difficult to recognize the enemy from outside, the enemy from home. Before August 15, 1975, we did not recognize Khandaker Mushtaq, we did not recognize Major Dalim, we did not recognize Colonel Farooq and Colonel Rashid. Today we all have to face the situation consciously and cautiously," he said at a human chain and protest procession in front of the National Museum in the capital's Shahbagh on Friday (February 4) at 11:30 am. Bangladesh Youth Unity Council organized the human chain.

Referring to the recent attacks on minorities and land grabbing in different parts of the country, Rana Dasgupta said, "A taxi driver has been slaughtered in Kompaniganj, Noakhali. We have news that an MP from Barisal has been involved in an attempt to evict the minorities by forcibly occupying their lands. In addition, the family of an MP from the reserved seat of the present parliament has evicted the neighboring helpless family from the land to build a hobby garden house. Not only that, we were shocked to see the incident in Bandarban in the Chittagong Hill Tracts yesterday. Whether the situation before the Hill Peace Accords is coming back! But there was no peace agreement for this situation."

"Communal miscreants have already challenged the prime minister's declaration of zero tolerance," he said. "Parliamentary elections in the next two years. We feel that this process has begun in the run-up to and after the election, in line with the blueprint for creating a volatile situation."

Addressing the Prime Minister, Rana Dasgupta said, "Before the 2018 elections, your party promised to form a Minority Commission, enact anti-discrimination legislation, implement the Peace Agreement and the Hill Tracts Commission Act properly. You (the Prime Minister) will play a visible role in the implementation. We also want to see the visible role of the government and the ruling party against those who want to question the role of the Prime Minister in Parliament or from within the ruling party."
