Expatriate Tanjilur's mother gets bail

Dhaka, August 29: Anisha Siddika, mother of Tanjilur Rahman who is doing PhD research at the University of Michigan in the United States, was released on bail after eight days of imprisonment. Khulna Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court SM Ashiqur Rahman granted her bail plea on Monday.

Anisha Siddika's lawyer Monirul Islam Panna said that she was released from Khulna District Jail in the evening. On the morning of August 20, the police arrested Anisha Siddika from her father's house on Boyra Haji Faiz Uddin Road in the city. Regarding the arrest, Khalishpur Police Station OC Monirul Ghiyas said that three people including Anisha Siddika, who had gathered for the assassination plot, had been arrested. At the same time, a case had been registered against the accused under the Special Powers Act at Khalishpur police station.

However, Anisha Siddika's son Tanjilur Rahman complained that his uncle's house was vandalized for writing about Delawar Hossain Saeedi on Facebook. His mother was arrested by the police for protesting the vandalism.

Advocate Monirul Islam Panna said that the first bail application was made in the Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on August 22. But bail was not found. On August 24, the court rejected the bail application again. On August 27, another bail application was made in the Khulna Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court. Which is scheduled to be heard on August 31 in the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court. On Monday, the lawyer applied for a rehearing as the documents came to the court. Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge in charge of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court SM Ashiqur Rahman conducted the bail hearing. At the end of the hearing, bail was granted due to age and as there is no other case against her.
