Own Correspondent, Dhaka, June 14: Covid-19 infection is on the rise again in the country. Although no new deaths related to coronavirus have been reported, the number of detected cases has risen in recent days. For two days in a row, the daily infection has exceeded one hundred. In this situation, the concerned ministry of the government is advising to follow the hygiene rules including wearing of masks. Experts say that in order to control the infection, it is necessary to go to the doorsteps to ensure vaccination.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 128 Covid patients were detected in 24 hours from 8 am on Sunday (June 12) to 8 am on Monday (June 13), while 109 more cases were identified in the previous 24 hours. Although the daily infection has been below 100 for almost two and a half months, it has returned to the upward trend in the last two days. On March 25, the number of identities in one day was over 100.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Monday, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said that covid has increased in Bangladesh. In a few months, we have seen 31 to 35 people being infected daily. As many as 109 people were infected on Sunday, which is a sharp increase. We have to be careful, we have to wear masks, we have to maintain social distance. The matter should not be forgotten. Don't forget to wear a mask, we want to control the infection.

Mentioning that Covid-19 has not been completely eradicated yet, the minister said, "We are in a normal state as of now, so that we do not go into a deteriorated situation, everyone's efforts are needed."

When asked about the rise in the Covid-19 cases, Dr. Mostaq Hossain, an adviser and former scientific officer at the Institute of Pathology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) of the DGHS, on Monday said, "I think this is the fifth wave of corona. The fourth wave ended in March. The infected person has three months of immunity. After three months it did not go away completely but the affected person became weak. In the case of vaccines, too, the effectiveness of the vaccine decreases within three to four months after vaccination. Therefore, after a certain period of time (three months) there is a risk of infection again."

The public health expert said that every person in the country needs to be vaccinated to control corona. This issue should be given utmost importance. If necessary, the vaccine should be given at doorstep. Even if you take a low booster dose, you need to make sure that everyone gets at least a second dose of the vaccine quickly.
