Fakhrul, Khasru to be freed from jail this evening

Dhaka, Feb 15: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury are being released from jail this evening after being granted bail in the case of attack on the residence of the Chief Justice.

Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the party's media cell, said that the leaders will be released from the Keraniganj Central Jail by Thursday (February 15) evening.

Quoting Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder, one of the lawyers of these two top leaders of BNP, Shairul Kabir Khan said that after the bail of all the cases filed against Mirza Fakhrul and Amir Khasru, the lawyers have started the process of withdrawing the "production warrants". If these processes are completed by afternoon, the process of their release will begin after the documents reach the jail.

BNP Secretary General has production warrant in 13 cases. After the hearing on Wednesday afternoon yesterday, the acting judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court, Faisal Atiq bin Quader, granted bail to both of them in the case of attack on the residence of the Chief Justice on a surety of Tk 5,000.

Their lawyer Syed Zainul Abedin Mejbah said that there is no obstacle to their release as they are on bail in all the cases against Fakhrul-Khosru.

Eleven cases were filed against the secretary general of BNP in connection with the clash surrounding the general assembly of BNP on October 28 last year. He got bail in 10 of these cases. The remaining case was the attack on the Chief Justice's residence. And 10 cases were filed against Amir Khosru. On Wednesday, they got bail in all the cases through bail in the case of the attack on the residence of the Chief Justice.
