Faridul Haque Khan takes oath as state minister for religious affairs

Dhaka, November 25: Md. Faridul Haque Khan has taken oath as the state minister for religious affairs on Tuesday (November 24).

President Md. Abdul Hamid administered the oath of office to the new Minister of State for Religious Affairs. After the death of Sheikh Md. Abdullah, the post became vacant.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at 7 pm at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban, maintaining social distance and wearing a mask in the presence of a limited number of people. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam. Only 13 guests were invited.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud, Member of Parliament Rezwan Ahmad Tawfiq and secretaries of Bangabhaban and other concerned ministries were present on the occasion.

Faridul Haque Khan was elected a Member of Parliament from Jamalpur-2 constituency in the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Parliamentary Elections on an Awami League ticket. He is the president of Islampur upazila branch of Awami League. On January 7, 2019, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina was sworn in as the eleventh Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the third consecutive term. His government has 24 ministers, 19 state ministers and three deputy ministers.

This is Sheikh Hasina's fourth term as the country's Prime Minister. She has previously held the record for 20 consecutive years as Prime Minister and Head of Government for three consecutive terms from 1996 to 2001 and from 2008 till date.
