Father demands justice for son's murder

Dhaka, Dec 13, 2020: Locals have protested demanding justice for the killers of UP member and local Awami League leader Bakul Hossain Sheikh, 35.

On Saturday (December 12) afternoon, they protested from Ananta Bazar in Pabna Municipal Headquarters. The protest ended in front of the Awami League office after going around different roads of the city. Later a protest meeting was held there.

The deceased was identified as Bakul Sheikh, son of Dulal Sheikh of South Ramchandrapur area of ​​Pabna Sadar Uplo. He was a UP member of Ward No. 6 of Dogachhi Union and the joint general secretary of Awami League in that ward.

At the end of the protest, the protesters demanded immediate arrest of the killers and exemplary punishment for illegal administration in the Ananta Bazar area. Bakul's father Dulal Sheikh and his relatives and locals were present in the procession. Bakul Hossain's father Dulal Sheikh broke down in tears demanding justice for his son's killers.

Dogachhi UP chairman Ali Hasan said identified terrorists and extortionists in the area had publicly carried out the killings. A UP member cannot be killed in this way. I demand a proper investigation into the incident and exemplary punishment for those involved.

Pabna district Awami League office secretary Abdul Ahad said a gang used to extort money from various vehicles at the Ananta Bazar intersection. Three days ago, Bakul Sheikh stopped the extortion. As a result, he was hacked to death. He demanded justice for the culprits.

Pabna Additional Police (Crime) Masud Alam said police have launched an operation to arrest those involved in the incident. The murder mystery will be revealed and the killers will be arrested soon.
