Dhaka Airport Flight operations at Dhaka airport will be closed for 5 hours every night
Dhaka, February 2: Flight operations at Dhaka airport will be suspended for five hours for the next two months from 2 midnight on Wednesday (February 2) for renovation work on the runway lighting system.
An initiative has been taken to install runway central line lights to increase capacity in flight management and improve passenger service at the airport. For this reason, the runway of the airport will be closed from 2 am to 7 am every day from February 2 to April 3.
Group Captain Mohammad Kamrul Islam, Executive Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said that before and after the time of light replacement i.e. from 7 am to 11.30 am and from 10 pm to 2 am, excess of flights can be seen.
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Authority has taken advance planning in flight management and other matters through coordination with other public and private institutions related to the airport including airport traffic department to make the journey of passengers smooth and uninterrupted. Besides, a monitoring team has been formed for implementation.
According to airport sources, during these five hours the weather is foggy during this season. Flight operations are disrupted. For this reason, this time has been chosen for the renovation of the lighting system. During this time 7-8 flights operated daily, they have been rescheduled.
