Four women tea workers killed in landslide in Moulvibazar

Dhaka, August 19: Four women workers were killed in a mound collapse at Srimangal tea plantation in Moulvibazar. The accident took place on Friday (August 19) at 11:30 am in Lakhaichhara area of Kalighat Union of the upazila. The deceased are tea workers Hiramani Bhumij (30), Purnima Bhumij (28), Radha Mahali (40) and Shakuntala Bhumij (40).

Chairman of Kalighat Union Parishad Pranesh Goala said that on Friday morning, four women tea workers came to collect house coating soil. It collapsed while cutting soil from the mound. At that time, they were killed on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Srimangal Police Station Shamim ur Rashid Talukder said that four women workers were collecting white soil for coating the house. They died due to mudslides. The body has been sent to the morgue for post-mortem.
