Bangladesh-France France is our trusted development partner: Prime Minister
Dhaka, Sept 11: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said France has been a trusted development partner of Bangladesh since independence.
Addressing the President of France, she said, "I am honored to welcome you to Bangladesh. I invited you to visit Bangladesh in November 2021 and you accepted my invitation. France holds a special place in our hearts and thoughts."
The Prime Minister said these while attending the dinner organized in honour of French President Emmanuel Macron at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Sunday night. Before the start of the dinner, there was a cultural performance.
Sheikh Hasina said, "Since independence, France has been our trusted development partner. Our partnership can play a role in solving various problems of the world including various crises, climate change."
Addressing the French President, Sheikh Hasina further said, "We have prepared a special kacchi biryani for you, which is part of our culture. We have an opportunity to spread the culture of our two countries to each other. Another special juice has been prepared for you, made with our local fruit Amra."
Earlier, the French President arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a two-day visit after the G-20 summit in India on Sunday at 8 pm. Then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her cabinet members welcomed him with flowers around 8:30 pm. Meanwhile, Macron was given a red carpet reception.
This is the first visit of a French president to Dhaka in the last 33 years. It is known that two bilateral agreements will be signed between France and Bangladesh during Macron's visit.
