French President Emmanuel Macron leaves Dhaka after official visit

Own correspondent, Dhaka, 11 September 2023: French President Emmanuel Macron left Dhaka after all formalities of the state visit. He left for Paris on a special flight from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal Airport at 2:48 PM on Monday. Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen and Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud bid farewell to the French President at the airport.

Macron arrived in Dhaka from Delhi on Sunday night on a two-day visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Prime Minister welcomed Macron at the airport. The French President was given a red carpet reception and a guard of honor at the airport.

This is the second visit of a French President to Bangladesh after the then French President Francois Mitterrand's visit to Bangladesh in 1990. On the first day of the visit, the French President attended a state banquet on Sunday night. At night he visited lyricist and musician Rahul Anand's studio in Dhanmondi.

On Monday, the second day of the visit, the French President paid tribute to Bangabandhu at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum. Later he held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban. Bilateral issues were discussed in the meeting. Later, in the presence of the two top leaders, two agreements were signed to finance the Bangabandhu Satellite-2 and local government projects.

After the meeting, the two top leaders held a joint press briefing. Before leaving the Prime Minister's office, the French President signed the visitor's book kept there.

Later, the French President went on a boat trip on the Turag river in the capital. Macron visited the Turag river in the rain. During this time he enjoyed boating.
