Goddess Durga appears to establish truth and justice: Fakhrul

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Oct 5: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that Goddess Durga has appeared to defeat untruth and establish truth and justice.

He made this comment during the Durga Puja exchange ceremony at BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy's residence in South Keraniganj on Tuesday (October 4). BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, National Executive Committee Member Nipun Roy Chowdhury were present at this time.

Fakhrul on behalf of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman congratulated the people of Sanatan religion on the occasion of Durga Puja.

Mirza Fakhrul said, "We fought a great liberation war in 1971 to build a democratic and non-sectarian Bangladesh. But today even after 50 years that hope has not been fulfilled."

He said that Khaleda Zia has been imprisoned with a false case. Our Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman was convicted in a false case and sent to exile. Lakhs of activists have been accused in false cases.

Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a message sent to the media on the occasion of Autumn Durga Puja on Tuesday (October 4), alleged that incidents of communal incitement, vandalism of idols, looting, and extortion had occurred during the Awami League government.

He said, among these, big religious festivals like Durga Puja inspire the people of the country with a sense of harmony and goodwill. Any major festival is a beacon of culture in national life.

BNP General Secretary extended his best wishes and congratulations to all Hindus on the occasion of Durga Puja and Vijaya Dashami and wished them continued happiness, peace, and prosperity.

He said that autumn Durga Puja is the main religious festival of Bengali-speaking Hindu community. Durga Puja has been celebrated in this subcontinent for a long time in a joyful atmosphere.

This festival expresses the joy of all people regardless of wealth and status, connecting different communities in different ways. This festival is an eternal universal festival of Bangladesh. Festivals are the meeting ground of all people in the nation-state. The theme of the festival is peace and harmony. The scope of the festival is not circular but broad and universal.

BNP Secretary General said that people of all communities have been living together in Bangladesh for thousands of years. Religious festivals transcend communal boundaries and bring together all people irrespective of caste and creed into a larger community of goodwill. Communal harmony is part of our national heritage. We all are Bangladeshis, this is our pride, and this is our only identity. I wish you all the success of Sharadiya Durga Puja.
