Dhaka, Jan 29: General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader commented that bringing the prices of daily necessities within the purchasing power of the common people is one of the challenges of the present government.

He said that the price of goods is increasing, it is a fact, there is no point in denying it. In this regard, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave instructions in the first cabinet of the government. We have started work.

Obaidul Quader said these in response to journalists' questions after meeting with Indian High Commissioner Pranay Kumar Verma in his office at the Secretariat on Sunday.

General secretary of Awami League said that there are many challenges regarding contemporary issues, implementation of election manifesto is a challenge, employment of one crore youth in five years, bringing commodity prices under control, dollar crisis, reserve crisis and energy crisis. Controlling these crises, bringing them within the purchasing power of people is a big challenge. The government is working on this.

Stating that India has behaved like a neighbor in the overall situation, Obaidul Quader said, "India has behaved like a good neighbor in the overall world situation in view of our elections. That was necessary."

He said, "Some opposition in this country wanted to destabilize us here in collaboration with some foreign countries. India stood by us when they wanted to rig the election. We have to admit that. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have broken the wall of doubt and mistrust in the friendly relations between the two countries. I see no reason to tear our relationship with India in the future."
