Sheikh Hasina Govt working to make Ansar-VDP smart and modern: PM
Dhaka, Feb 13: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) are playing an important role in protecting national resources, and the government is working to make this force smarter and more modern.
She said this at the Ansar-VDP rally in Gazipur's Safipur on Monday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the rally of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party at Safipur in Gazipur after 10 am. She visited the parade there in an open-top jeep. She went around and see the gathering of various contingents.
The Prime Minister said that Ansar and VDP must fulfill their due responsibilities to protect the society from terrorism, militancy and drugs. This force will become smart and modern. The government is working towards that goal. Meanwhile, the head of government announced the construction of a sports complex for this force.

She said that the government has worked for the purpose of village development. Ansar and VDP are assisting the government.
Sheikh Hasina said, "A confidence has been established among the common people. Bangladesh has the ability to handle any situation. Ansar and village defense forces should be vigilant against any evil activities to protect public safety."
While praising Ansar forces, she said that Ansar and VDP have performed their duties very efficiently in any national need. They have played a very important role in protecting the national wealth by resisting the destructive programme of BNP-Jamaat in the name of preventing elections.
