Dhaka, February 2: The government has fixed the cost of Hajj per person in the current season at Tk 6 lakh 83 thousand and 18. This decision was taken at the meeting of the Executive Committee on Hajj Management in order to take a decision on Hajj Package-2023 at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

State Minister of Religious Affairs Md. Faridul Haque Khan announced the decision to the journalists after the meeting.

The Holy Hajj will be held in Saudi Arabia on June 27 subject to the sighting of the moon. On this occasion, the bilateral Hajj Agreement 2023 was signed between the Royal Saudi Government and the Government of Bangladesh on January 9. According to the agreement, the quota of pilgrims this year has been fixed at 1 lakh 27 thousand 198 people. Out of this, 15 thousand people under government management and 1 lakh 12 thousand 198 people under private management can perform the holy Hajj.

This year, the pre-arrival immigration of 100 percent of pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia through Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will be held at this airport in accordance with the 'Makkah Road Agreement'.

A limited number of people were able to perform the holy Hajj in the last three years due to the restrictions imposed by the Corona virus. Now there are no more obstacles and rules. Last week, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia informed this information. The price of Hajj package has also been reduced in 2023 compared to 2022. Pilgrims will get a chance to perform Hajj at 30 percent less cost than last year.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Hajj said last week that the local pilgrims of Saudi Arabia can pay for the Hajj package in three installments. Earlier there was a rule to pay the entire amount at once.

Those interested in performing Hajj must register in advance. After that, you have to pay 20 percent of the package within 72 hours to secure your place. The next 40 percent of the amount is to be paid by January 29 (Rajab 7). And the last 40 percent can be paid by April 23 (3 Shawwal).

Every year, 2.5 million people perform Hajj in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. But due to the restrictions of the corona virus, this number was brought down to several thousand in 2020. In 2021, 60,000 Muslims staying in Saudi Arabia had the opportunity to perform Hajj. And last year 1 million people including foreigners performed Hajj.
