Dhaka, March 31: As the quota was not fulfilled, the registration period for Hajj pilgrims increased another round. Hajj pilgrims can register themselves till April 5. A circular has been issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Thursday (March 30) extending the registration deadline for Hajj pilgrims for the seventh time by six days.

It is said that the period of Hajj pilgrims registration for government management and private management has been extended till April 5. Pre-registration series is open for registration in both public and private management and there is an opportunity to go for Hajj by fresh pre-registration in both management.

The Ministry of Religion also said in the notification that the registration server will be closed automatically as soon as the quota is filled. The registration period for Hajj pilgrims was supposed to end on Thursday (March 30) as per the earlier schedule. This time, Hajj registration has decreased due to the increase in the cost of Hajj. Earlier, the quota could not be fulfilled despite extending the time six times. Due to the reduction of service prices in Saudi Arabia, the cost of performing Hajj from Bangladesh this year has also been reduced by Tk 11,725.

The Holy Hajj will be held on June 27 (9th Zilhaj) this year subject to moon sighting. According to the Hajj agreement with Saudi Arabia, 1,27,198 people from Bangladesh will be able to perform Hajj this time. Out of this, 15,000 people will get the opportunity to perform Hajj under government management and the remaining 1,12,198 people will get a chance to perform Hajj under private management.

According to Hajj portal data, a total of 1,18,286 pilgrims have been registered till 8:30 pm on Thursday. Among them, 9,935 people and 1,08,351 people have been registered privately. There are still 8,912 Hajj pilgrims left to fill the quota.

The registration of pilgrims for Hajj this year started on February 8. The deadline for registration was February 23, but it was extended to February 28. But against the quota very few pilgrims are registered. Later the registration period was extended till March 7. Even then less than half the quota of pilgrims are registered. The last registration period has been extended till March 16. No response was received during this time. Finally, the registration period has been extended till March 21.
