Hasan Mahmood holds meeting with Emirates Minister on manpower export

Dhaka, March 9: Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, who is visiting the United Arab Emirates, met with the Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization Affairs Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar.

The meeting was held at the office of Minister Abdul Rahman Al Awar in Dubai on Friday morning. In the meeting, the two ministers discussed the issue of employing more Bangladeshis in all fields of work, including Bangladeshi graduate nurses, caregivers, healthcare technicians, agriculturists and farmers and various professionals in the emirate, among bilateral issues.

Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmood requested the resumption of visas for Bangladeshi workers in all trades in the emirate, simplification of visa procedures and ease of transfer of work permits from one employer to another.

Stating that there is no obstacle to the employment of Bangladeshi workers, the UAE's human resources minister said that the UAE government is emphasizing on the recruitment of skilled workers based on the demand of the technology-driven job market.

He informed about the use of AI and software to process the recruitment and management of workers in the UAE, and highlighted the skills screening of job candidates.

In the meeting, Dr. Hasan Mahmud referred to the recruitment of Bangladeshi nurses by the Kuwait government and requested the Emirate side to recruit qualified nurses and medical professionals from Bangladesh. The UAE minister welcomed the proposal and assured to examine the Kuwaiti recruitment model in the upcoming joint technical committee meeting in Dhaka.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud pointed out the challenges of using UAE ports to bring signed off seafarers home with CDC. The UAE minister assured that his ministry would look into it urgently.
