Dhaka, May 18: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that there is no master of the government abroad, there are genuine friends. He made the remarks at a regular briefing at his official residence on Tuesday (May 18). Obaidul Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already made a name for herself in the international arena with her diplomatic skills.

He said the Prime Minister's steps in tackling the coronavirus crisis have been praised in the international arena, including the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the World Economic Forum, The Economist, and the US-based Forbes magazine. However, the BNP is not praising the government and the Prime Minister but is continuing endless lies and propaganda.

Quader said the Sheikh Hasina government is running the country with utmost efficiency and success and as a party the Awami League has also gained the confidence of the people. With the support of the people, the Sheikh Hasina government is moving forward with the wheel of development and progress of the country moving forward.

The general secretary of the Awami League said there is no alternative power center like Hawa Bhaban under the Sheikh Hasina government. The people's government is working for the welfare of the people. The BNP is blaming the government by not informing the people about the observance of hygiene rules in the protection of coronavirus.

Recalling those who were only critical for the sake of criticism, he said, "If the government had not dealt with the coronavirus, how could the number of infections have dropped from 8,000 to 600 and the number of deaths from 112 to 40?"

Calling on all to play a responsible role in complying with the health rules, the Awami League general secretary said, "There is no reason to think that coronavirus will leave very soon."

Regarding the BNP secretary general's demand for a strict lockdown, Obaidul Quader said that when the government declared a lockdown or a general holiday considering the overall situation, they tactfully opposed it.

He said the BNP's propaganda against the vaccine to keep people away from the vaccine also failed. The BNP secretary general is now using various terms like shutdown, crackdown, while while protecting the livelihood of the people is a priority, they are continuing their anti-politics.
