Due to the coronavirus pandemic, various countries, including the United Arab Emirates, do not allow entry into the country without a coronavirus test certificate four to six hours of the start of the journey. As a result, expatriate workers from Bangladesh to different countries, including the Middle East, are facing problems.

When the matter came to the notice of the Prime Minister's Office, the Cabinet recently directed to set up RT-PCR labs at three international airports, including Shahjalal International Airport, at the earliest. The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh allocated space for setting up a laboratory on the second floor of the terminal at the airport.
