Hefajat leader Kader arrested

He was arrested from Agargaon in the capital on Saturday evening. He was arrested in a case of arson and vandalism at Shapla Chattar in 2013 and recently in a case of anti-Modi violence.

Professor Ahmad Abdul Quader was the 'Central President of Chhatra Shibir'. He is also the secretary general of the Khilafat Majlis, a partner of the 20-party alliance.

According to sources, when Chhatra Shibir was declared as an affiliate of Jamaat-e-Islami in 1982, Ahmad Abdul Quader got involved in an ideological dispute with Jamaat. He then voluntarily resigned from the camp. In 1983, he founded the Islamic Youth Camp. He is currently the secretary general of the Khilafah Majlis, a partner of the 20-party alliance.

According to relevant sources, the then Khilafah Movement and Islami Yubshibir merged on December 6, 1969 to form the Bangladesh Khilafah Majlis with Abdul Ghaffar as Amir and Bahasa Sainik Masood Khan as Secretary General and Azizul Haque as President of the Guardian Council. Until 1996, he was the founding joint secretary general of the Bangladesh Khilafah Majlis. He was one of the members of the liaison committee of the four-party alliance movement formed in 2001. At that time he was also the acting secretary general of the Islamic Unity Alliance.

From 1996 to 2004, he was the vice-president of the Islamic Unity Alliance and the Bangladesh Khilafah Majlis. In 2005, the Bangladesh Khilafah Majlis split in two due to policy reasons. Some of them are registered with the Election Commission under the same name. Another part is registered as Khilafat Majlis. Since then he has been the Secretary General of the Khilafat Majlis. On 15 November 2020, he was elected Central Naib Amir of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh.
