Hefazat-e-Islam Hefazat-e-Islam committee dissolved
Dhaka, April 26: The current committee of Hefazat-e-Islam has been dissolved. Ameer (president) of the organization Allama Junaid Babunagari said this in a video message from Hathazari Madrasa in Chittagong on Sunday (April 25).
He said the committee was dissolved on the advice of some important members of the central committee. He said that the organization will be managed by the convening committee in future.
In the video message of just 1 minute and 23 seconds, he said that considering the overall situation in the country, the Central Committee of Hefazat-e-Islam, the largest non-political organization in South-East Asia, has been dissolved.
He further said that inshaAllah, the activities of Hefazat-e-Islam will start again in the future through the convening committee.
Hefazat-e-Islam Central Committee was formed on 15 November 2020 with Junaid Babungari as Amir and Nur Hossain Qasemi as Secretary General. Hefazat formed the new committee on September 18 of that year due to the death of Allama Ahmad Shafi, the founding president of the organization. Hefazat appointed Nayeb Amir Maulana Nurul Islam Jihadi as acting secretary general after the death of secretary general Nur Hossain Qasemi on December 13.
Meanwhile, shortly after Babungari's announcement, Maulana Mainuddin Ruhi, the joint secretary general of the committee headed by Shah Ahmad Shafi, announced the formation of a new committee in another video message at 11:30 pm on Sunday. He said that a new committee of Hefazat-e-Islam would be formed in line with the policy of Ahmed Shafi.
Maulana Mainuddin Ruhi said, "A syndicate committee was formed on November 15, 2020 in the name of the council. I have repeatedly said that this is an illegal committee. This committee has been formed by abandoning the main objective of custody. Four and a half months after the formation of the committee, realizing the reality, the committee was declared dissolved. I welcome the announcement to dissolve this committee."
He further said in the video message, "We will soon form Islam in the custody of the principles and ideals of Allama Ahmad Shafi. Keram will remain united in the ulama. In any case, we will move forward by embracing the policy ideology of Allama Ahmad Shafi Sahib. I hope the countrymen will be with us."
