Dhaka, April 17: Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police have arrested Maulana Jubayer Ahmed, a leader of Hefazat-e-Islam. He was arrested from Lalbagh area of ​​the capital on Friday (April 16) evening. In this regard, DB Joint-Commissioner Mahbub Alam said that a team of DB police arrested Jubayer from Lalbagh on Friday evening. Apart from the case filed against Zubair on May 5, 2013 at Shapla Chattar, there is a case against him for sabotage.

Maulana Jubayer Ahmed served as the vice-president of Hefazat-e-Islam's Dhaka metropolis. He is also known as the son-in-law of Mufti Amini.

According to DB sources, his name is in the case filed on May 5, 2013 at Shapla Chattar. Maulana Jubayer Ahmed will be handed over to the court today (April 18) showing his arrest in a 2013 case.

Police have arrested several central leaders since the recent Hefazat riots and strikes. Azizul Haque Islamabadi, the organizing secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam, was arrested at midnight on Monday (April 11th). He was arrested in a joint operation of RAB and DB from Hathazari in Chittagong.

The DMP's intelligence department arrested Mufti Sharif Ullah, co-publicity secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh's central committee, from the Jatrabari area in a raid on Tuesday (April 13th) night. A team from Wari Intelligence Department arrested Sharif Ullah from Mir Hazirbagh area of ​​Jatrabari in the capital.

On the same night, police arrested Mufti Bashir Ullah, general secretary of Hefazat's Narayanganj district, from Sanarpar area of ​​Siddhirganj.

Earlier, RAB-11 arrested four leaders of the party, including the main accused in the case of vandalism at the Sonargaon Royal Resort in Narayanganj and sabotage on the highway, for detaining Hefazat leader Mamunul along with a woman. They are: Hefazat leader Maulana Iqbal (main accused), Maulana Mohiuddin, Maulana Shahjahan Shibli and Maulana Moazzem.

About two hundred people have also been arrested in Brahmanbaria. Leaders and activists have been arrested in Chittagong, Narayanganj and Munshiganj.
