Dhaka, March 15: The High Court has commented that the incident of not allowing Hajj pilgrims to travel on any other aircraft except Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudi Airlines and charging Tk 60,000 more fare from Hajj pilgrims are 'inhuman'. Besides, the court assessed the Ministry of Religion as a 'Disabled Ministry'. At this time, the High Court also expressed its anger over the increase in the cost of Hajj.

The court made such a comment on Tuesday while fixing the date of hearing of the writ for re-fixing the expenses by amending the 'Hajj Package 2023'. The High Court had fixed the next day of hearing in this regard on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the lawyer of the state has been asked to talk to the Ministry of Religion to find out whether there is any new decision regarding the Hajj package.

Before this, on March 6, a legal notice was sent to the relevant parties including the Ministry of Religion to revise the Hajj package and reduce the cost. On that day, Supreme Court lawyer and Al-Qur'an Study Center chief coordinator Advocate Ashraf Uz Zaman sent this notice to the Ministry of Religion. As no action was taken despite the notice, he filed a writ petition on March 12.
