Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 23: The High Court has asked to keep the doors and windows of the District Commissioner's office (DC office) open for the common people. At the same time, the High Court warned the District Commissioner of Kushtia to remove the door and window curtains of his office.

The High Court on Monday (August 22) directed the DC to hear about 5 people including Kushtia Deputy Commissioner, DC, Superintendent of Police (SP) in a contempt of court case.

However, even if Kushtia District Commissioner is exempted from personal appearance, the rest will have to appear on October 24. At the same time, the court set the next day for hearing on that day. At that time, Kushtia Superintendent of Police, BRAC Bank's MD, and businessmen who took the auctioned property were also present.

A bench comprising Justice Abu Taher Md. Saifur Rahman and Justice AKM Rabiul Hasan warned the DC when 4 persons including the DC-SP of Kushtia appeared in the contempt of court case regarding the auctioning of a property worth Tk 133 crore for Tk 15 crore.

According to the case, Biswas Traders, VIP Rice Mill, and VIP Flower Mill, owned by businessman Shafiqul Islam, are located on eight acres of land. With a loan of Tk 42 crore from BRAC, he established a business. Later he repaid Tk 90 crore.

If he fails to pay the debt, an auction was called on his property. The total value of Shafiqul's property is Tk 133 crore, which was sold at auction for Tk 15 crore. In view of the auction, the property is asked to be delivered by August 4.

Later that decision was challenged and a writ was filed in the High Court. After hearing the writ, the High Court suspended all the proceedings after the auction on August 2.
