Dhaka, June 19: The government is constructing one model mosque in each upazila of the country. Similarly, the Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mohajote, a Hindu organisation, has demanded the construction of a model temple in every upazila of the country. The organization made the demand at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) on Saturday (June 19) at noon.

Secretary General of the Hindu Mohajote Govindo Chandra Pramanik said, "The Hindu community should be allocate Tk 2,258.10 crore in proportion to the population and an additional Tk 5,000 crore in bulk, with which one model temple will have to be built in each upazila, in the 2021-22 Financial Year."

Elaborating on other demands, Pramanik said a one-day public holiday should be declared during the rath yatra. No changes can be made in the Hindu religious rules, nor will they be allowed to be made.

The press conference also called for action against two NGOs, 'Manusher Jonnyo Foundation' and 'Bachte Sekha', calling them anti-Hindu and anti-social.

In addition, the organisation has demanded the re-establishment of 60 reserved seats in the National Assembly and separate electoral system to ensure the representation of the minority community. The press conference demanded the establishment of a Ministry of Minority Affairs and the appointment of a full-fledged minister from the minority community.

If the demands are not clearly announced by July 15, the Hindu community will hold human chain and demonstrations in every district and upazila of the country and the next program will be announced, the secretary general of the organisation said.
