Dhaka, November 12: Holidays in all educational institutions in the country have been extended due to the coronavirus situation. According to the new decision, the educational institution will remain closed till December 19.

The information was given in a circular signed by Information and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education MA Khair on Thursday (November 12).

Earlier, the ongoing leave of the educational institution was extended till November 14. Due to coronavirus, all educational institutions in the country have been on holiday since March 17.

The leave was extended till October 31. It was extended to 14 November. Now it is done till 19th December.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the education of about four crore students is at high risk as the educational institutions have been closed for a long time.

According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Education Information and Statistics, out of the total students of the country, about two and a quarter crore children are in primary level. And the number of students at the secondary level is a little over a quarter of a crore. The rest are studying at other levels.

In such a situation, teachers, students and parents were asked whether the leave would be extended or the educational institution would be reopened. In this situation, the announcement was made to extend the holiday again on Thursday.

Earlier, the primary and ibtedayi final examinations and the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations were canceled due to the Corona situation.

It was announced on October 7 that this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination is also not taking place. Then came the announcement not to take the annual examination at the secondary level. All students will rise to the upper class without examination.

Meanwhile, due to the holidays, the session congestion is increasing in the universities. Private schools and colleges are in financial crisis.

As an alternative to the existing situation, the promotion of classes through TV and radio at the school level and the emphasis on online classes in colleges and universities have not been effective in that sense.
