Own Correspondent, Dhaka, July 30: The counting of the holy month of Muharram will begin from July 31, and the holy Ashura will be celebrated on August 9 (Tuesday).

This decision was taken in the meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the meeting hall of National Mosque Baitul Mukarram on Friday evening. It was presided over by the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Md. A. Awal Hawladar.

It was informed in the meeting that the moon of the holy month of Muharram of 1444 Hijri was not seen anywhere in the sky of Bangladesh on Friday. So, the holy month of Zilhaj will complete 30 days on Saturday, July 30. The counting of the holy month of Muharram will begin from Sunday, July 31. In this context, the holy Ashura will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 9.
