Own correspondent, Dhaka, 17 January 2024: Health Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen said that unlicensed hospitals-diagnostic centers and clinics should be closed. If the owners do not stop themselves, then the ministry will take strict action. He said this in an event at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

The minister said, "I myself am a victim of unlicensed hospitals. So I will never make concessions in this regard. You know, in the meantime I have said that my stand against corruption will be strict. Likewise, there will be no concessions regarding unlicensed hospitals."

Regarding the death of baby Ayan, Samanta Lal said, "The death of baby Ayan is a very sad incident. Appropriate action will be taken in the case of Ayan's death. As far as I know, the investigation committee will report today on Wednesday. If there is any negligence in the treatment, then no discount will be given."

Earlier, Ayan's father Shamim Ahmed and his family came to meet the Health Minister with four-point demands including a fair trial for Ayan's death. Meanwhile, Ayan's father narrated the incident of his child's death to the health minister.

Regarding the new variant of Corona, the minister said, "Corona has not left the country yet. We have to be careful especially with the new variant." He advised vulnerable groups to avoid public gatherings and everyone to use masks due to the increase in Corona.

Director General of the Department of Health Professor Dr. Abul Bashar Md. Khurshid Alam said, "Even if the new variant of Corona is not very serious, we will all be careful. We have set the target of giving the fourth dose of Corona vaccine to 12.5 million people this year. GAVI (Global Alliance For Vaccine Initiative) we will start the process as soon as the vaccine is available."
