Dhaka, April 13: The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination was scheduled to begin in July this year, but it has been delayed. The exam may be held in August instead of July as the syllabus is not finalised. In view of this, the selection exam is also starting one month behind from May 30. This information is known from the sources of Dhaka Education Board.

After planning to take the HSC exam in the second week of next July, objections arose about it. Because, in that case, the candidates would have to sit for the exam in one year and three months (15 months) after the beginning of the eleventh class. But the academic year of higher secondary is two years.

Because of this, educators and parents were saying that students are under pressure to study in a hurry to take exams. There is a danger of learning deficit. Even though the exam will be held in July, the university level admission exam for these students will be held from April to June-July next year. As a result, they have to be coached for a long time. The cost of which will be borne by the parents. Later, the question arises, what is the use of taking the HSC exam earlier without coordinating it with higher education admissions?

The education boards reconsidered the matter after publishing news about it in various media. Dhaka Education Board Chairman Prof. Tapan Kumar Sarkar told Jago News that in addition to media reports, they have also come to know that some educational institutions have not completed the curriculum yet. Considering these, it is planned to conduct the HSC examination in August instead of July. However, when the HSC examination will start and end, the date has not been finalized yet, he said.

According to the sources of the education boards, the preliminary decision of the boards to conduct the examination in August has been informed to the education minister Dr. Dipu Moni. Now the education minister will talk to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina about this and take the final decision to start the examination.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, classes were physically closed in the country's educational institutions for almost one and a half years since March 2020. Because of that, a random situation is created in the curriculum, which is not yet normal.
