Dhaka Husband arrested on charges of burning his wife to death in Dhaka
Dhaka, June 9, 2023: An allegation of burning to death a housewife named Nina Khan (50) in Hajipara area of Madhubagh of the capital has been made against her husband.
Giyas Uddin, the accused, has been arrested by the police. This incident happened on Thursday afternoon.
After the incident Giyas Uddin rescued Nina Khan and brought her to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. The doctor on duty there declared him dead. Later, Rampura police station recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Shaukat Hossain Khan, the brother of the deceased, said that Nina Khan and Geas got married in April 2012. Both of them worked in Shaukat Agency of Moghbazar Meet Life Insurance. Today we get news that Nina caught fire from the kitchen stove.
"Later, after coming to National Burn Institute, I saw that my sister had died," he said.
After reporting to Rampura police station, the police came and recovered his body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Shawkat Hossain alleged that his sister was deliberately burnt and hacked to death.
He also said that their village home is Santana Para of Palash police station in Narsingdi district. Father deceased Siraj Ullah Khan. His sister lived in Rampura area.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp Incharge (Inspector) Md. Bachchu Mia said the body has been sent to the morgue for post-mortem. The matter has been reported to the concerned police station. He also said that we have come to know that the housewife was hacked and burnt by her husband. He is detained at Rampura police station. The exact cause of death will be known after receiving the post-mortem report.
