Dhaka, January 23: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that it is her greatest pleasure to be able to provide land and houses to landless and homeless families. The Prime Minister made the remarks after inaugurating a program to provide land and houses to landless and homeless families on the occasion of Mujib Year through video conference from Ganobhaban on Saturday (January 23).

She handed over pucca houses to about 70,000 families in 492 upazilas of the country.

Sheikh Hasina said, "Today is a very happy day for me. Being able to give a home to a homeless family is my greatest joy. My father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman used to think about people. He thought and worked more for poor and helpless people than our family members. It was him who started this initiative."

Dumuria Upazila of Khulna, Chapainawabganj Sadar, Syedpur of Nilphamari and Chunarughat Upazila of Habiganj were included in the live broadcast at that time. Also all the upazilas of the country connected online.

On the occasion of Mujib Year, under Asrayan Project-2, about 9,00,000 people are being given pucca houses as part of the rehabilitation process. About 70,000 families got houses in the first phase. Another 1,00,000 will get houses next month. Documentaries made by the Asylum Project were screened at the event.
