India appoints Vikram Doraiswami as next High Commissioner in Dhaka, replaces Riva Ganguly Das

Dhaka, August 14: Indian diplomat Vikram Doraiswami has been appointed as the country's next ambassador to Bangladesh.

Doraiswami, who will succeed Riva Ganguly Das, is presently serving as additional secretary in-charge in the external affairs ministry in Delhi, the Indian capital..

A seasoned diplomat, he belongs to the 1992 batch of Indian Foreign Service officers.

The external affairs ministry in a release said, "He is expected to take up the assignment shortly."

Meanwhile, Riva Ganguly Das, the outgoing Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka, has been appointed as the next Secretary (East) in the ministry of external affairs.

She will succeed Vijay Singh Thakur and will begin work from October.
