Dhaka, May 15, 2022: Prashant Kumar (PK) Halder, arrested in West Bengal, India, will be brought to Bangladesh to face trial.

The state's chief legal officer, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, said.

He said the West Bengal government of India had taken action against PK Haldar at the request of the Bangladesh government.

Bangladesh's intelligence agency told them there were people involved in money laundering. PK Halder has been arrested on the basis of that information. Now he will be brought to Bangladesh and face trial.

The attorney general told reporters at his office in the Supreme Court on Monday (May 15th), the day after PK Halder's arrest.

He said that in the light of the prisoner exchange agreement between Bangladesh and India, there is an opportunity to bring PK Halder back to the country. All sorts of steps will be taken to bring him back. Because he has smuggled people's money. He was stationed in India through various forgeries. That is their own business.

But the issue of money laundering, the issue of financial scandal is pending in the court. He will face trial in that case. Hopefully, it will be possible to bring him back soon.

In response to another question, the law official said that PK Haldar was arrested on the basis of information provided by Bangladeshi agencies. Bangladeshi companies are working on PK Halder. It was because of this activity that he was arrested. The money of our country has been smuggled to India. We will try to bring it back. Because it is people's money.

On the other hand, Prashant Kumar (PK) Halder fled abroad through Benapole land port in Jessore after embezzling around Tk 3,500 crore, according to the Immigration Branch of the Special Branch (SB) of Bangladesh Police.

PK Halder escaped from Bangladesh through Benapole land port on October 23, 2019 at 3:36 pm. However, a few hours after his escape, the immigration police on duty at the Benapole land port received a copy of a letter from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) stating that PK Halder could not go abroad.
