Dhaka, April 30: Bangladesh is sending Remdesivir and other materials to India to deal with the Covid situation. Medical supplies are expected to be sent next week. In this regard, Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen said on Thursday (April 29), "India has immediately sought Remdesivir. We are making arrangements to send it."

Note that at present in India, Remdesivir costing USD 12-53 is being sold at USD 350-1000.

On the threat of the Indian variant of the corona spreading in Bangladesh, he said, "If the rate of infection reduceds, it will be managed somewhat."

The government is in talks to collect vaccines from Russia, China and the United States, said Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen. Not only is co-production being discussed at the government level, but it is limited to providing assistance to the private sector.

He said, "The vaccine will be bought at the government level. Trying to buy from the United States. They have an additional six crore. From there we seek. China has said it will give 5 lakh doses and we will also buy something, the secretary said, adding that starting with a new dose after Eid would not be a problem. We are trying to bring it as soon as possible."

"The government does not produce vaccines," he said of providing assistance to the private sector. "We have officially named three to four companies to Russia, including Incepta and Popular. The Russians are now communicating with them. Now it will be made by whoever matches their criteria."
