Dhaka, November 17: The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has made a special edition watch in honor of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of Mujib Barsho. The dial of the watch has the portrait and signature of Bangabandhu.

Minister for Road Transport and Bridges and General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Obaidul Quader unveiled three types of this special edition watch at the Secretariat on Tuesday (November 17). Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy was present at the occasion.

Later, the minister told reporters, "Bangladesh-India relations have passed the test of time. The light of the relationship between the two countries is shining in the continuity of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Indira Gandhi even today in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi."

He said the two heads of government were working shoulder to shoulder against regional issues, including social, economic and cultural, and common obstacles to progress. The artificial wall of doubt and mistrust that was formed after 1975 has been broken down and now a bridge of trust and friendship has been built.

Stating that positive progress has been made on the distribution of Teesta water, the minister said, "Many unresolved issues have already been resolved through talks."

The Indian High Commissioner said, "Although Bangabandhu is the father of the nation of Bangladesh, he is also a hero to the Indian people."

He recalled the warmth and love shown by the Indian people to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his way back to Bangladesh in January 1972 after independence.

Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy said, "Titan, a well-known watch maker of the multinational Tata Group of India, has prepared special edition watches for the Indian High Commission. This wonderful watch has been made on the occasion of Mujibvarsha i.e. Bangabandhu's birth centenary. This watch is the humble tribute of the Indian High Commission to him. It will inspire all our inner heroes to realize the dream of this great man."

Obaidul Quader expressed hope that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would visit Bangladesh on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence.
