Dhaka, June 21: Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of International Yoga Day, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka said on Sunday (June 20).

"I wish to extend through your good offices, my deepest gratitude for the cooperation and efforts extended by one and all in making the International Day of Yoga celebrations a resounding success every year in Bangladesh. It was heartening to see our sisters and brothers in Bangladesh turning out in massive numbers in the last few years to perform yoga at the Bangabandhu National Stadium," the Indian Prime Minister said, adding, "I am sure International Day of Yoga celebrations will continue to enjoy your Government's support in the years ahead."

"Please accept my best wishes to you, your family and your citizens, for good heath and well-being," he said.

Narendra Modi further said, "In 2014, the United Nations recognized June 21 as the International Yoga Day. This year, Yoga Day will be celebrated for the seventh time worldwide. But like last year, the day has come at the time of the pandemic."

The Prime Minister of India said that positive progress has been made against the epidemic since the International Yoga Day last year.

Narendra Modi said, "Yoga keeps our mind and body well. Corona can infect any person. However, yoga helps prevent disease by increasing energy in the body."

Note that International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June every year. The theme of this year's Yoga Day is 'Yoga for Wellness'.
