Intercity trains to operate at full capacity from tomorrow

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, February 8: Bangladesh Railway has decided to operate intercity trains at full capacity from tomorrow, Wednesday (February 9).

Tickets of the 50 percent of the total seats will be available at the counters and the remaining 50 percent will be sold online. However, the passengers have to abide by the hygiene rules. The information was given in an office order signed by Deputy Director of Railways Nahid Hasan Khan on Sunday.

The order states that carnivirus infections have started declining. Vaccination drives have already been intensified. General people are going to different places after receiving various vaccines against Covid-19. As a result, the pressure of passengers on the train is increasing. In order to keep the economic activities of the country afloat, there is a need to meet the demand of the passengers. So the decision was made to sell tickets for intercity trains.

However, while buying tickets from the counter and traveling by train, passengers have to follow hygiene rules and wear masks. In addition, issuing of standing tickets on intercity trains as well as platform tickets at stations will remain suspended.
