Agitation Intern doctors to stop their agitation for a month after Health Minister's assurance
Own correspondent, Dhaka, 29 March 2024: Post graduate trainee and intern doctors have been protesting for a long time for four-point demands including increase in allowance.
They were on strike. However, after a meeting with the Health Minister on Thursday, they suspended the agitation for a month.
The agitators said that the health minister said that the issues will be resolved after Eid. With his assurance, we will stop the movement for a month. In this regard, Health Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen said, the intern doctors had been demanding salary increase for a long time. I agreed with this demand from the first day. I have listened to them, sat with them a few times. They do the most to keep the hospital alive.
He also said that the demand of intern doctors is reasonable. The Prime Minister has agreed to meet their demands. He asked them to join the work. We can tell when their salary will increase only after Eid. But we will give the arrears allowance before Eid. Apart from this, the allowance of 12 closed institutes will be introduced.
Earlier, Health Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen held a meeting with post graduate trainees and intern doctors regarding the allowance increase at 2.30 pm. A total of 20 representatives from the doctors were present in the meeting.
